Physical Description
This Christening robe is an example of Ayrshire embroidery and is worked in fine white thread on white lawn. The robe is made entirely by hand and the beautiful gathering of the skirt into the bodice should be particularly noticed as should also the fine needle made fillings which are used in the larger eyelets. This robe was made about the beginning of the 19th Century. Great Britain.
