Back stitch wheel
1. Carefully mark a circle on your fabric with a dot right in the centre. Mark 7 (or any odd number) dots on the circle equal distance from each other.
2. Bringing the thread up on one of the marked dots on the edge of the circle take a stitch into the centre.
3. Bring the needle out on the next mark taking a stitch into the center of the circle until all 7 stitches form spokes to the wheel like pattern.
4. Bring the thread back up just beside the central dot to the left of spoke 1.
5. Take the needle over spoke 1 over and back in a clockwise direction under spoke 1 and the spoke directly to its left .
6. Bring the needle round this spoke working back in a clockwise direction over the spoke back round it and the spoke to its left.
Repeat step 6 until all spokes are entirely covered.

Darning
1. Using thread A create a series of long straight stitches side by side.
2. Bring thread B out at the top and just to the right of the long stitches.
3. Avoiding going through the fabric carefully weave the needle under the first stitch over the next, under every subsequent odd thread and over subsequent even thread etc etc to the last long stitch.
4.Taking thread B from the far left over the last stitch (A) carefully reverse step 3, this time going under the odd threads and over the alternate even threads.

3. Bring the needle out on the next mark taking a stitch into the center of the circle until all 7 stitches form spokes to the wheel like pattern.
4. Bring the thread back up just to the right of the central dot.
5. Weave over one spoke and under the next, over one and under the next. This should begin to build as the woven structure grows around the spokes and outwards.
